Last week, HSA Commercial was named 2016 Corporate Partner of the Year by Chicago Commons, HSA’s long-term social outreach partner and a leading provider of early childhood education and senior care services in low-income Chicago neighborhoods. Bob Smietana, HSA Commercial’s CEO and long-time governing board member at Chicago Commons, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the organization’s annual meeting.
For 120 years, Chicago Commons’ mission has been to partner with individuals, families, and communities to overcome poverty, discrimination, and isolation. “Chicago Commons is one of the most worthwhile organizations serving the city of Chicago,” said Bob. “They do phenomenal work for families in low income neighborhoods, and HSA is proud to partner with them to help make a difference in our community.”
HSA Commercial’s social outreach arm, HSAwareness led by senior vice president Josephine Thomas-Hoytt, works with Chicago Commons on a number of initiatives each year. These initiatives include an annual playground renovation project, as well as a holiday gift and winter clothing drive for Paulo Freire Family Center in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Earlier this month, HSAwareness assembled backpacks filled with school supplies for 24 children due to graduate from Paulo Freire this year and move on to kindergarten in the fall.
HSA Commercial would like to sincerely thank Chicago Commons for the recognition, as well as everyone who contributed to HSAwareness initiatives throughout the year. We look forward to working with all of our friends and colleagues to continue to make a difference in the lives of others through our partnership with Chicago Commons.
