HSA COMMERCIAL'S PHILLIPS EARNS LEED AP FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION CREDENTIAL

Craig J. Phillips, executive vice president of the development division at Chicago-based HSA Commercial Real Estate, has earned the LEED AP for New Construction credential developed by the U.S. Green Building Council and administered by the Green Building Certification Institute.

The LEED AP exam tests the candidate's knowledge of the LEED standards for New Commercial Construction and Major Renovations Rating System v2.2 and its application in practice. The LEED for New Construction exam provides a standard for professionals participating in the design and construction phases of high-performance, healthful, durable, affordable, and environmentally sound buildings.

In his role at HSA Commercial, Phillips pursues new development opportunities on behalf of the firm and
manages the development, leasing and entitlement processes for each project. Current projects under development include Park 94 at Mt. Pleasant, a 90-acre industrial development in Racine County, Wisconsin, that includes a 323,610-square-foot LEED Certified warehouse; Delany Commerce Center in Lake County, Ill.; and New Lenox Commerce Center in Chicago's southwest suburbs.

Phillips joined HSA Commercial in 2008 with more than 20 years of project development experience. As a partner and regional vice president at Seefried Properties Inc., based in Des Plaines, Ill., Phillips delivered more than one million square feet of industrial space with a market valuation in excess of $100 million. Phillips holds a BS in industrial engineering from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Business, University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), with a concentration in real estate and finance. Phillips is a licensed Illinois real estate broker and an active member and sponsor of SIOR, NAIOP and AIRE.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system is a voluntary,
consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED addresses all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies in five areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality
