Timothy Blum, executive vice president of Retail Development for HSA Commercial Real Estate, today announced that the firm has executed a 6,228-square-foot lease with Carhartt, Inc., America’s premium work wear brand since 1889, at The Mayfair Collection shopping center in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Michigan-based Carhartt will occupy a portion of the space immediately north of Old Navy in Phase 1 of The Mayfair Collection and is scheduled to open this summer. Carhartt currently operates 16 company-owned stores across the country; the Wauwatosa location will be the first Carhartt retail store in the state of Wisconsin.
“Milwaukee has always been the home of hard-working people,” said Jamie Millar, vice president of retail at Carhartt. “From the city’s rich history of brewing beer and rail industry transport to its production of motorcycles it’s easy to see why a Carhartt-owned retail store belongs here. We truly look forward to serving this industrious community.”
The Wauwatosa Carhartt retail store will carry 369 styles of men’s, women’s and kids’ apparel, footwear and accessories. The new store will showcase Carhartt’s iconic brown duck, sandstone and denim styles as well as the brand’s new lightweight Quick Duck® outerwear, Force performance line and Rain Defender® durable water-repellent outerwear and sweatshirts. Expect to also find men’s Series 1889 jeans, ripstop and canvas cargo pants along with flannel shirts, T-shirts, washed twill shorts and pants.
“The Mayfair Collection has already offered several retailers such as Nordstrom Rack and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH a place to launch their brands in the state of Wisconsin, and we are very pleased that Carhartt has chosen to do the same in our shopping center,” said Tim Blum of HSA Commercial. “We believe that the quality of their products and the uniqueness of their brand and store design will be very well-received by our customers.”
Phase 1 of The Mayfair Collection–which includes Nordstrom Rack, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, and more–opened to huge crowds of customers in April 2014. The project’s construction consisted of adaptively repurposing functionally obsolete warehouse buildings along Highway 45 into new, contemporary retail environments that have been enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of shoppers from across the metro Milwaukee area since the shopping center’s grand opening.
The Mayfair Collection’s second phase will be anchored by Whole Foods Market, which will be housed in a converted warehouse building at the northeast corner of Burleigh Street and 112th Street. Plans for the second phase of The Mayfair Collection also include a HomeGoods, approximately 30,000 square feet of junior anchor retail space, a mix of upscale bars and restaurants, and a 140-room Hilton Homewood Suites hotel. Earlier this year, HSA Commercial and Fiduciary Real Estate Development jointly announced that the firms have agreed in principal to develop up to 1,050 luxury residences over seven to ten years on land next to The Mayfair Collection as part of a large-scale, mixed-use development to be called “The District”.
Evanston, Ill.-based TOA Architects is the project architect for The Mayfair Collection. Premier Design + Build will serve as the general contractor for the first two phases.
