Today, HSA Commercial joined Whole Foods Market in celebrating the grand opening of the retailer’s brand new store at the second phase of The Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Customers began lining up as early as 5:45 a.m. to see the 47,563-square-foot grocery store, which is the second for Whole Foods Market in the Milwaukee area and first in the market in almost 10 years. Whole Foods Market team leader Ted Beres was joined by Wauwatosa mayor Kathy Ehley in “breaking bread” to commemorate the opening of the new store, which was greeted by an enormous crowd of eager customers. Within thirty minutes of opening its doors, over 1,000 customers had entered the Whole Foods Market to explore the various locally-inspired departments including:
- Coffee and custard bar
- Juice bar offering “Farmstand Freeze”, an ice-cream like dessert made from fruits and vegetables
- The Tosa Tavern, offering 20 local and popular beers on tap with a growler refill station
- Cheese Shop with over 200 varities of cheese
- Cookshack, a BBQ station with meats smoked in-house
- Seafood Market featuring daily smoked fish
- Butcher Shop offering sausages prepared using local beers
The grand opening of Whole Foods Market represents the launch of the second phase of The Mayfair Collection, a 400,000-square-foot retailĀ development by HSA Commercial Real Estate. Whole Foods will be joined in Phase 2 by HomeGoods and Verlo Mattress, which are set to open in the next few weeks, and there is 33,100 square feet of junior anchor retail space available next to Whole Foods as well. Phase 1 of The Mayfair Collection–which is anchored by Nordstrom Rack, Dickās Sporting Goods, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, DSW, and more–opened to huge crowds of customers in April 2014. The construction for both phases consisted of adaptively repurposing functionally obsolete warehouse buildings along Highway 45 into new, contemporary retail environments.
