This past Wednesday, 37 business students from the West Bend East/West High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) visited HSA Commercial’s The Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa, Wis. to hear about the history and evolution of the 250,000-square-foot shopping center project which celebrated its grand opening last month.
The FBLA group spent their morning at Miller Park where they heard from a marketing representative from the Milwaukee Brewers who explained the team’s business operations and promotional activities to the aspiring young professionals. The group then traveled to The Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa where Brenton Schrader, the marketing director for the project, provided a presentation that detailed HSA’s assemblage of the property, strategy in planning the development, creation of the tenant roster led by Nordstrom Rack, and designs for future phases including the Whole Foods-anchored second phase set to break ground next month.
“With our students getting ready to embark on their college and professional careers, it’s important for them to hear from entrepreneurs like HSA and to see how they are overcoming economic challenges to make valuable investments in our community,” said Maureen Miller, a business education teacher advisor at West Bend High School.
After the presentation, the students had an opportunity to ask some questions of HSA’s spokesperson, and they inquired about a variety of topics from the fundamentals of retail leases to the planning and phasing of a mixed-use development. After wrapping up the Q&A at The Mayfair Collection, the group of juniors and seniors shopped at some of The Mayfair Collection’s retail stores before returning to school in nearby West Bend.
HSA Commercial appreciates the students’ time spent at our project, and we wish them luck in their business education and careers.
